About Culebra Divers
Culebra Divers has operated in Culebra since 1987. We are a small company and our sincere goal is to provide you with a great experience, lots of fun memories, and excellent customer service.

Culebra Divers is a fully insured dive operation and the only dive operator in Culebra endorsed by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. We are an authorized ScubaPro, H2Odyssey, TUSA and Ikelite dealer. We offer training through multiple international dive agencies including NAUI, PADI and SDI.

The Culebra Dive Team
Walter Rieder is a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain, an AHSI CPR Instructor, and a NAUI Scuba Instructor certified since 1982. He has been diving around the world for 45 years. Drawing on nearly 30 years of diving experience in Culebra he will proudly take you out to his favorite dive sites. Walter’s passion has been scuba diving since being a child and now his hair turns gray. What can we say, he just loves to dive! In Walter`s professional life before Culebra he owned his own photography studio. If you need help with your camera or picture taking we offer a underwater photo workshop.

Monika Rieder was educated in Switzerland as a physical therapist before she moved to Culebra almost twenty five years ago to follow her love for the sea. Dive Master and Dive Shop Manager, she will teach you about the wonders of our delicate underwater eco-system and show you why Culebra has earned its reputation for world class diving.

Todd "Toddles" Plaia is a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, and holds additional instructor and specialty ratings with NAUI and SDI. He is also a trained AAUS Scientific Diver. After spending nearly 18 years working as a Molecular Biologist, Todd pursued his passion for diving and a full time career in the dive industry where he managed a dive shop in Virginia for several years. After many years of planning, he and Shellie, finally escaped “Corporate America” and relocated permanently to Culebra.

Michelle “Shellie” Plaia is an Advanced Open Water Diver who truly loves the underwater world. With years of experience in the hotel and hospitalty industry, Shellie works as a Property Manager with Culebra Island Realty. When she’s not managing guest houses she is working in the Dive Shop or is gearing up for the next dive.
